Antiseptic with antifungal properties

Contraindications

General
  • Do not allow more than a few minutes contact with the eye of concentrations greater than 1% solution – lavage within 5 minutes.

Adverse Effects

General
  • Local irritation is possible.
  • Damage to the corneal epithelium is possible if solutions of concentrations greater than 1% are not lavaged from the eye within 5 minutes.

Comments

Solutions of greater than 1% should be lavaged from the eye within 5 minutes to prevent damage to the corneal epithelium.
Products must be compounded and diluted from the commercially available povidine iodine 10% solution and diluted to a final concentration of 0.5 – 1% for antiviral indications and no more than 5% for use as an ophthalmic irrigant.
