Drug Information

Pharmacology

Causes mydriasis and cycloplegia.

Contraindications

General
  • Use with caution in patients that may be predisposed for acute congestive glaucoma as this condition may be precipitated in these cases.

Adverse Effects

General
  • May cause pain upon administration and salivation.
  • May also precipitate acute congestive glaucoma in susceptible patients.

Comments

Maximum dilation occurs in 15 – 30 minutes and lasts 6 – 12 hours in most animals.
Intraocular pressure is not affected.
