Drug Information
Pharmacology
NSAID inhibits intraocular miosis and may also manage uveal inflammation.
Contraindications
General
- Should not be used in cases of infected corneal ulcers or in patients with known bleeding tendencies.
- Use of topical NSAIDs for more than 24 hours prior to surgery or for more than 14 days after surgery may increase risk for corneal adverse events.
Adverse Effects
General
- All topical NSAIDs may slow or delay healing.
- May result in keratitis due to epithelial breakdown, corneal thinning, erosion, ulceration or perforation. Discontinue immediately if signs of corneal breakdown occur.
- Use of topical NSAIDs for more than 24 hours prior to surgery or for more than 14 days after surgery may increase risk for corneal adverse events.
- Most common side effects include abnormal sensations in the eye, redness, irritation, itchiness and inflammation.
